MISSION: The American Lung Association® (ALA) is the oldest voluntary health organization in the United States, with a National Office and constituent and affiliate associations around the country. Founded in 1904 to fight tuberculosis, ALA today fights lung disease in all its forms, with special emphasis on asthma, tobacco control and environmental health.

SERVICES: Tobacco control advocacy; Loan educational materials to schools and community; Open Airways in Schools, an Asthma education program for schools to teach Asthma Management Skills to children with Asthma; Medical professional education programs; Literature on all Lung topics; Referrals.

CNY Asthma Coalition - Cayuga County is active in the Asthma Coalition supporting its goals and objectives. Funded through a New York State Department of Health grant, the Coalition provides services and education to children living with asthma along with community education.

AREAS SERVED: Cayuga County, Onondaga, Madison, Oneida, Oswego, Jefferson, Herkimer, St. Lawrence, and Lewis Counties.

SUPPORT: Grants, Donations, and NYSDOH

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: Volunteers to assist with programming.

LANGUAGES: Some Spanish

REFERRALS: Health Departments, hospitals, HMOs, self-referrals.

HOURS: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm
